A fixed basketball hoop (also called in-ground basketball hoop or wall-mounted fixed hoop) is a permanent basketball system that is firmly anchored to the ground or solid wall with concrete or heavy-duty expansion bolts.
Unlike portable hoops with movable plastic base filled with water/sand, it cannot be moved once installed. There are two main types:

In-ground fixed hoop: A metal anchor sleeve is buried and fixed in concrete underground, then the steel pole is inserted into the sleeve. This is the most common permanent style for yards and courts.
Wall-mounted fixed hoop: Mounted firmly on solid concrete or brick load-bearing walls via heavy metal brackets, no ground pole required.
Advantages of Fixed Basketball Hoops
1. Ultra Stable, No Shaking or Tipping
The concrete foundation or solid wall bracket provides heavy, permanent support. Even when dunking, hanging on the rim or intense slamming, the pole and backboard barely wobble.
Zero risk of tipping over, which is a major hidden danger of portable hoops (portable bases may slide or topple with strong impacts).
2. Higher Durability & Longer Service Life
Thick galvanized steel poles, heavy welded brackets and solid anchor structures resist wind, rain and long-term impact.
Not easily deformed after years of frequent use; suitable for daily family training, school and community public courts.
Glass backboards can be matched, which are standard for formal games (portable hoops mostly use thin acrylic that cracks easily).
3. Standard Official Game Experience
Can strictly reach the official standard rim height of 3.05m, with stable rebound effect.
The backboard stays flat without bouncing during shooting, giving consistent ball rebound, same as professional court hoops.
Many models support smooth height adjustment for kids, teenagers and adults.
4. No Regular Maintenance of the Base
Portable hoops need refilling water/sand, draining water in winter and preventing base leakage. Fixed hoops have no such trouble.
Only simple regular bolt tightening and anti-rust spraying are needed.
5. Strong Wind Resistance
Heavy concrete foundation prevents the whole set from being blown down by strong winds, storms or typhoons. Portable hoops are easy to blow over in windy weather.
6. Neat & Space-Saving Layout
In-ground type only occupies a small ground point without large bulky plastic base; wall-mounted type takes zero floor space.
Clean court appearance, no obstacles around the playing area for running and layups.
7. High Safety for Long-Term Use
No accidental sliding or tipping when children play.
The firm connection avoids loose parts falling off during intense movement, lowering injury risks.
Minor Disadvantage (for reference)
It cannot be relocated; professional tools and concrete pouring are required for installation, with higher upfront installation cost and longer construction time.
